dear hearts, we had rough start.....

one of the the things i'm looking forward to the most right now is seeing the murder city devils play twice in february!!!! despite 2010 getting off to a very rocky start, there are many beautiful adventures to look forward to this year. i think the end of this year was a good time to bid adieu to this unhealthy relationship because a new year is a wonderful metaphor for a new beginning and boy oh boy, am i ready for some amazing changes but i digress, back to the murder city devils.

they are playing two shows in february - february 12th in philly and february 13th in nyc. yes, you bet your ass i'm attending both. i have loved this band for over a decade. i was devastated when they split in 2001 and i was ecstatic to see their reunion show in 2006 at the seattle block party. since then they have toured or played shows sporadically but none of them were on the east coast so i'm over the moon (michael k. that was for you) that they're playing two shows near me. i'm counting down the days til february 12th.

dear hearts is one of my favorite songs and the lyrics seem so perfect right now:

Dear Hearts
I had a rough start
Don't let it fall apart
Until the fire start
We'll rip it all apart
Gonna show, show some strong heart
I had a slow start
But I'm ready for the good part
Rejoice
We made the right choice
If there's something wrong you know they'll find it
Well, I say
I say let'em have it
I got a preachers mouth and
A rock n' roll heart
A rock n' roll heart
Well somewhere between the round and the square
There's a spiral
Take ya to the top
Right to the top
And once we started
You know damn well
You know we can't be stopped
Dear hearts
We had a rough start
You know its the slow music of the spirit
It makes ya wanna touch
You know its much too much
You know its much too much, oh
And it's the spirit
That makes ya wanna touch, oh
Rejoice
We made the right choice
If there's something wrong you know they'll find it
Well I say let'em have it,
Let 'em have it, oh
