two loves

colorado girl is one of my all time favorite townes van zandt songs and while i was searching the web for a video of townes or steve earle playing the song, i came across ben nichols from lucero covering it.
i love townes and i love lucero (especially ben but so does every other female lucero fan) so this little video is an absolute gem to watch.
this song reminds me of home.

not one for big holiday celebrations but i feel i should take a moment show appreciation for how lucky i am.
i have a lot to be thankful for - i won't go into any gory or sappy details but i'm giving the universe a big hug and kiss.

montauk part 1

some images from my trip to montauk in september. stayed with my friend jeremy earhart - an all around awesome person and fantastic artist. saw some of the most beautiful sunsets i've ever experienced in my life at ditch plains. ocean, sun and sand do the mind and body good. can't wait to go back in may.

shitty day.....

i went to see precious today with a good friend. i cried through the entire movie. not the movie to see when your PMS is at maximum intensity and you're trying to break off a relationship with an amazing person because they're moving across the country.  i haven't cried this much in years. in fact, it worried me a little bit. made me wonder if i need to get back on antidepressants which i'm really trying to avoid. i don't think i'll have to, i think today was just a triple whammy. my heart is definitely hurting which reminded me of this photo i took a few days ago.

this is a huge billboard in my hood (near nostrand and fulton) on top of a building. it's probably for some crazy ad campaign i have no idea about but the words really resonate with me tonight.

these are old photos from one day over the summer where i gallery hopped in manhattan.....

an awesome diane arbus wheatpaste poster that i photographed the day i checked out the black acid co-op show at deitch. the next time i was there for the tauba auerbach show, it was gone, ripped down with only shredded remnants left.

on a side note, the auerbach show was SO BORING. i find a lot of her work intersesting - especially her language/word/text based pieces. her anagram pieces were a huge influence on my grad school thesis work but the deitch show fell flat.

this was a drawing on a construction area somewhere in chelsea that i thought was touching. yeah, i'm an emotional dork.

random trash on the chelsea streets. not sure why i found it visually engaging but i did.

i know this is an ad for peta which is annoying but i found the headline highly entertaining as i gallery hopped in chelsea.

hot mess

holy shit! i haven't posted anything in AGES!! i had some computer issues as in i had ZERO memory left but i finally installed a new internal 500 GB hard drive on my laptop (actually tekserve installed it). as a result, i was finally able to upload all the photos off my camera so i have several new posts coming but the material is from this summer...dated, old, whatevs.

but to get things started, here's what my bed typically looks like. just came across this photo when i uploaded the 400 pictures from my digital camera.

it's a sad state of affairs....that's what happens you live in a studio, don't own a desk (yet) or a couch and are perpetually single. i was putting together a care package for a friend in l.a. when i shot this photo.
